Jeremiah 24: 6-7

Jeremiah 24: 6-7

This morning as I was doing my daily devotion, I asked God to show me what He wanted me to learn more about. I generally hold my Bible up on its spine, pray for God to show me His word and let the Bible fall open. This morning the Bible opened to Jeremiah 24. As I was reading I got to verse 6 and 7 and every few words, there was meaning that was being shown to me by God. What I mean by that is that as I read a few words, a different meaning came to me in my head and my heart.

Jeremiah 24: 6-7 from “The Everyday Life Bible” Amplified Version (The following is exactly as it reads in this version).

Jeremiah 24: 6-7

“For I will set My eyes upon them for good, and I will bring them again to this land; I will build them up and not pull them down, and I will plant them and not pluck them up.
7 And I will give them a heart to know (recognize, understand, and be acquainted with) Me, that I am the Lord; and they will be my people, and I will be their God, for they will return to me with their whole heart.”

So here is what I was able to interpret from my time with God this morning. Keep in mind that the Bible is a “Living Word” and by that, I mean that verses can mean different things to different people at different times in their lives.

Jeremiah 24:6

For I set My eyes upon them for good,…”

“Them” my kids, my family, my friends, and all of those who do not know and have a PERSONAL relationship with God.

bring them again to this land“.

“Again” You call all of us to You so that we may know and love You. You do this again and again without fail.

“Land” Your loving arms, Heaven, Christianity, but most of all You our God.

6 “… and I will build them up and not pull them down…”

“Up” You will always show us our way to Your glory in heaven.

“Build” The blessings You have for each of us from the time we have our name on Your hands.

“Down” Satan wants us to look down and not see Your glory, this is how Satan gets a stronger handhold over all of us.

And I will plant them and not pluck them up.”

“Plant” The Lord wants to give us roots in His word and help our budding shoots, (baby tendrils) to reach out into the world and help others as God wants us to.

“Pluck” Satan wants to become unrooted and wandering through life so that we never feel the love and security of Your amazing grace, mercy, and love.

7 “And I will give them a heart to know (recognize, understand, and be acquainted with) me, that I am the Lord;

“Heart” God has given us a heart from birth to know Him, in this verse I take it to mean that if we listen we will be able to recognize and know when You are speaking and NOT Satan.

And they will be My people, and I will be their God, for they will return to me with their whole heart.

“My people” I feel as if God is telling me that everyone will return to Him and once again He will be their Lord and Savior, not their flesh or Satan controling them.  The issue is that we have been given free will by God and we have to make a choice and CHOOSE Him.

“Return” Come back to what they know deep in the hidden parts of their hearts to be right and true.  Turn away from Satan and live for the glory of God.

“Whole Heart” To often we want to be 100% Your’s Father, yet the flesh/Satan wins out time after time.  However, in verse six, You tell us”You will ring them again”, so I have to believe You will never give up on us, and will always be waiting for us with open arms.

Thank you, Father, for Your wonderful mercy, grace, and love.  Your understanding and forgiveness are simply awe-inspiring.

Until next time, butterfly hugs,

Jenn
